Veal cheeks

from the Austrian dairy calf

€10.22

ca. 0.28 kg (36.5 € / kg)

Compared to classic beef cheeks, veal cheeks are somewhat smaller, but all the more tender and soft. They are also a classic braised dish that requires a lot of good red wine and spices. After a few hours, they become soft and incredibly tender - you can even cut them up with a spoon. But they are also extremely popular with barbecue fans.

Meat knowledge

Our veal cheeks are simply delicious. The particularly tender and soft meat makes them perfect for braising or grilling. Whether in the Dutch oven or smoker, wrapped in bacon or simply rubbed in, Veal Cheeks are a real succulent flavour experience.

How are veal cheeks prepared?

First and foremost,  Veal Cheeks are perfect for braising. Their intense meaty flavour is ideal for this. They are also excellent on the barbecue or in the smoker. However, a lower temperature should be used.

Fitmeat's delicious Veal Cheeks are ready to cook and vacuum packed in individual pieces.

Fitmeat veal cheek from the Austrian heifer

A calf (also known as a heifer) is a female cattle that is sexually mature but has not yet calved. This can be seen in the structure of the meat of a heifer.

The meat of a heifer has a bright dark red colour and extremely fine fibres. When it comes to marbling, veal is at the top of its game, making it extremely juicy and tender.

This special marbling is the result of the slow growth of the calves, which ensures fine fat storage. They are also significantly lighter than young bulls. The combination of beautifully distributed fat in the muscles and dry curing gives the Heifer a distinctly full-bodied flavour.

For good eaters, you can include one veal cheek per person.

Fitmeat prioritises the highest quality and species-appropriate animal husbandry. That's why 100% of the animals come from small farmers in Austria.

We only process calves (also known as heifers) or steers and deliberately avoid meat from young bulls or steers.

The cattle are around 2 - 2.5 years old and come from the Black-Angus, Red-Angus, Charlois, Limousin or Simmental breeds. In addition, our cattle are 4x AT labelled. This means that they are born, reared, slaughtered and cut up 100% in Austria. The value chain therefore remains entirely in Austria.

Our farmers are based in the Salzkammergut and Salzburger Land regions. Stress-free slaughtering takes place either on the farm or at a nearby butcher.

We distance ourselves from long animal transports and select our partners very carefully. Our butchers allow the cuts to mature on the bone for a long time. This ensures that we receive first-class, well-hung meat that doesn't leave any water when roasted and can be enjoyed with a clear conscience.
