Käsekrainer are a classic at every good sausage stand and for good reason: wonderfully crunchy and spicy-intense in taste, they are a real highlight. At Fitmeat you can get delicious Käsekrainer with lactose-free cheese from the Seeham region. Something you definitely won't find anywhere else!
What are Käsekrainer made of?
In general, our thick Käsekrainer are made from the highest quality pork and beef, bacon and sausage meat. They are then carefully smoked and cooked by our master butcher. The meat of the sausages is cut into 10 to 13 mm pieces and mixed with bacon. This naturally makes the consistency much coarser. The smoking process and the use of selected spices give Käsekrainer a strong and slightly spicy flavour.
Preparing Käsekrainer the right way
A bit of tact is required when preparing the cheese. Because of the cheese it contains, the Krainer should not be pierced before cooking. When frying, the heat should be turned down a little so that the cheese does not burn.
Fun facts about Käsekrainer
Käsekrainer has even achieved international fame. It first appeared in a South German cookbook from 1896 and has been popular in Australia and New Zealand since the 1950s. There, by the way, it is called "Kransky".

A pack of one kilogram of Boer sausage contains approx. 10 pairs of sausages. This corresponds to 4 portions.

At Fitmeat, the highest quality and species-appropriate animal husbandry are top priorities. That is why 100% of the animals come from small farmers in Austria. The farms are located in Lower Austria, the Waldviertel, Salzburg and neighbouring Upper Austria.
As we distance ourselves from long transport routes and factory farming, we have the animals respectfully butchered individually by our partner butchers in the immediate vicinity of the farms (max. 15 minutes transport distance) or directly on the farm.
We also have close and personal contact with the farmers and work exclusively with butchers who know both farmer and animal personally. Our master butchers cut each animal into the finest parts and allow them to mature selectively. This is not only true for our steaks, but also for ham, sausages and bacon!
These are carefully prepared and refined by hand by our master butchers according to the original recipe. The result? Sausages of the highest quality for a fabulous enjoyment experience.
