What is a Tomahawk Steak?

The original Tomahawk steak is a real heavyweight among steaks, characterised by its long bone! Beautifully marbled and well-done, it is a real "man's steak" and the highlight of every barbecue party.

Perfect to enjoy and to show off a little - that's part of it, isn't it! The interesting thing? The Tomahawk Steak is not only available from beef, but also from Austrian straw pig. The "pork chop with a handle", so to speak.

For curious gourmets! How does the Tomahawk Steak from the Straw Pig taste?

Perfectly prepared and matured, the steak is characterised by its intense colour and yet remains tender to the bite. In terms of taste, the Tomahawk of straw pig has absolutely no reason to hide behind the beef steak. Here, too, the smoky note develops with a fine, nutty aroma - absolutely ingenious!

We recommend one piece of Tomahawk Steak per person.

Pigs are extremely intelligent and clean animals. Therefore, species-appropriate and caring rearing is the be-all and end-all for us.

A requirement that is also noticeable in the taste. If you compare pigs from factory farms, for example, one thing is immediately clear: due to the permanent stress, the meat is much firmer, loses a lot of water during roasting and has hardly any flavour of its own.

For us at Fitmeat, this kind of rearing is out of the question for many reasons. We fight for animal welfare and the appreciation of meat products and strictly distance ourselves from immoral factory farming.

After the careful and stress-free individual slaughter of the pigs, our butchers leave the straw pigs to mature on the bone for a few days. The result is juicy and tender pieces of pork with a wonderful aroma.
